about

The name of this station, 'Seven Sisters' refers to seven ancient trees, which were once a landmark in the area. Sadly they have long gone. They were planted in a circle and were mentioned in medieval texts etc. There is a picture of them made with tiles on one of the platforms.
In this song, some medieval pilgrims have stopped off at the 'Seven Sisters' on the way to their destination - perhaps Canterbury, or somewhere like it.

lyrics

Over hill and dale, we come to worship you -
Seven trees in bloom.
Town and country hearth, we lift our hands to you:
First he's dead, now he is alive!

All my life I give, to be on pilgrimage,
Peering through the gloom.
Help me on my way, to be there on that day,
Where there's joy and I am alive!
