about

Near Pimlico station lies Tate Britain, an art gallery. This instrumental track is inspired by 'Merry-Go-Round' by Mark Gertler, which is displayed in the gallery. I first saw this painting as a boy and have been fascinated with it ever since. It was painted in 1916, during the First World War and speaks to me of the inanity and relentless horror of war.
I have composed a waltz to fit in with the carousel theme. For the middle section, (1:30 - 2:50) I have adapted a waltz tune from 'Der Rosenkavalier' - an opera by Richard Strauss.
